On December 10, Ga Lhakhang Rinpoche gives a Guru Rinpoche long life empowerment , called “Iron Mountain Long Life Practice”. The event will take place on the 10th lunar day, Guru Rinpoche’s special day when he arrived in Central Tibet, subdued the demons and local deities, visited Samye Monastery where he lit the lamp of the Holy Dharma of the Sutras and Mantras, and began guiding his 25 disciples, including Dharma King Trisong Detsen. It was on that day that he became known as Padmasambhava, the Lotus-Born. The longevity initiation, that Rinpoche will bestow, is very powerful and popular in Tibet. Guru Rinpoche, along with his wife Mandarava, realized this practice in Maratika Cave. Subsequently, a terma with this practice was opened by Rigdzin Jatsong Nyingpo. This initiation will be the completion of the cycle of teachings from Refuge to Guru Yoga that we received from Ga Lhakhang Rinpoche.
