On June 27–28, Kyabje Ga Lhakhang Rinpoche 13th will bestow the transmission for the practices of Chutor water torma offering and Sur offering.
Chutor, also known as water offering or water torma, is a ritual offering of water to Dzambala. It is a way to express gratitude, to request blessings for the attainment of wealth and spiritual growth, and it also serves as a symbol of generosity. The act of offering water symbolises generosity and is believed to purify the practitioner’s heart and accumulate merit.
According to Rinpoche, Chutor is also a powerful practice that removes numerous obstacles in life and helps to repay one’s karmic debts.
Sur is a ritual of offering food through scent. It is prepared from many pure substances — the “three whites and three sweets” — sometimes with the addition of precious ingredients. This ritual helps to alleviate the suffering of beings dwelling in the bardo after death. The offerings are made through fire, and the fragrant smoke rises as spiritual nourishment offered to the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Dharma Protectors, noble beings, and all beings in the six realms — especially hungry ghosts (pretas) — helping them to be satiated, find comfort, purify their negative karma, and gain the opportunity to be reborn in fortunate realms.
The event will be held online via Zoom with translation from English into Russian.
