The first session of oral transmission and commentary on the Bardo Thödol by Ga Lhakang Rinpoche will begin on October 11, 2026, Sunday.
The teaching of the Bardo Thödol (“Liberation Through Hearing”) was given by the great Indian teacher Padmasambhava (8th century). Later he hid it as a terma treasure for the benefit of future generations, and in the 14th century it was discovered by the tertön Karma Lingpa, the reincarnation of one of the 25 direct disciples of Guru Rinpoche.
The knowledge of the Bardo Thödol reveals the stages of dying, the passage of consciousness through the intermediate state (bardo), and the formation of a new life. This is necessary both for the living, to navigate the critical stages, and for the deceased, so as not to get lost in the bardo, not to fall into the lower realms, but to find the path to liberation. Beings in the bardo listen to the reader: the higher his qualification, the greater the chance that they will follow the instruction and be liberated.
