Red Hayagriva (Tamdrin) is the manifestation of the wrathful compassion of Buddha Amitabha. His most recognizable feature is one or more horse heads emerging from his flaming hair, neighing toward the sky. This symbolic “neigh” of Hayagriva pierces the veil of ignorance and causes egocentric forces to tremble, helping the practitioner eliminate the subtlest obstacles on the path to awakening.
In spiritual practice, Hayagriva is revered as the supreme healer and protector. His energy is directed toward transforming negative emotions—particularly anger and attachment—into pure wisdom. It is believed that Hayagriva’s blessing is especially effective for protection against harmful influences, healing illnesses, and pacifying obstacles that hinder both spiritual progress and well-being in daily life.
